PLUMERIA​ ​is​ ​named​ ​in​ ​honor​ ​of​ ​17th-century​ ​French​ ​botanist​ ​and​ ​Catholic​ ​monk​ ​Charles​ ​Plumier,​ ​who​ ​traveled​ ​to​ ​the​ ​New​ ​World​ ​documenting​ ​many​ ​plant​ ​and​ ​animal​ ​species.​ ​The​ ​common​ ​name​ ​'frangipani'​ ​comes​ ​from​ ​a​ ​16th-century​ ​marquis​ ​of​ ​the​ ​noble​ ​Frangipani​ ​family​ ​in​ ​Italy,​ ​who​ ​claimed​ ​to​ ​have​ ​invented​ ​a​ ​plumeria-scented​ ​perfume,​ ​but​ ​in​ ​reality​ ​made​ ​a​ ​synthetic​ ​perfume​ ​that​ ​was​ ​said​ ​at​ ​the​ ​time​ ​to​ ​resemble​ ​the​ ​odor​ ​of​ ​the​ ​recently​ ​discovered​ ​flowers.

SPRING​ ​FLOWER​ ​SOAPS—I​ ​am​ ​working​ ​on​ ​a​ ​collection​ ​of​ ​Spring​ ​Flower​ ​Soaps.​ ​These​ ​FLOWER​ ​SOAPS​ ​are​ ​created​ ​in​ ​molds,​ ​each​ ​with​ ​a​ ​colored​ ​tinted​ ​transparent​ ​background,​ ​which​ ​is​ ​see-through​ ​when​ ​observed​ ​from​ ​the​ ​front​ ​but​ ​the​ ​pretty​ ​background​ ​color​ ​is​ ​evident​ ​from​ ​the​ ​side.​ ​The​ ​tiny​ ​flowers​ ​are​ ​made​ ​in​ ​individual​ ​flower​ ​molds​ ​and​ ​the​ ​leaves​ ​and​ ​stems​ ​are​ ​hand-carved.​ ​These​ ​FLOWER​ ​SOAPS​ ​are​ ​made​ ​with​ ​many​ ​layers​ ​of​ ​clear​ ​soap​ ​as​ ​the​ ​flowers,​ ​stems​ ​and​ ​leaves​ ​are​ ​added.​ ​The​ ​top​ ​layer​ ​of​ ​flowers​ ​protrude​ ​out​ ​of​ ​the​ ​bar​ ​and​ ​the​ ​overall​ ​look​ ​is​ ​similar​ ​to​ ​an​ ​IMPRESSIONIST​ ​PAINTING.​ ​Can​ ​you​ ​imagine​ ​a​ ​painting​ ​in​ ​a​ ​soap​ ​bar?​ ​And​ ​the​ ​FLOWER​ ​SOAPS​ ​change​ ​colors​ ​with​ ​the​ ​light​ ​as​ ​you​ ​can​ ​observe​ ​with​ ​in​ ​the​ ​photos​ ​of​ ​each​ ​FLOWER​ ​SOAP.
